1. Recently I noticed that there had been a thumping sound in the steering column. Especially on left
hand turns. Would even do it with truck parked and not running. Replaced the entire steering column.
OK

2. First noticed a slight pulsing in front end when braking at about 4000 miles. But with the hard
winters we have, I thought maybe it was the roads, since this was about March when the snow starts
to melt and the roads start to heave a little. As the problem continued I noticed that under light braking
and heavy braking there was no problem only under moderate braking and also only after brakes
warmed up a little. During the summer months, with the camper on the truck, I did not notice the
problem. Only after I took the camper off did I notice the problem was worse. Also I had started to
notice a severe squeal in the rear brakes especially when backing up, like on a boat ramp. So here is
what the dealer wanted to do:

First, give both the front and rear brakes a slight pass on the lathe and scuff the pads and
shoes. I felt that I could not have possibly warped the rotors in 9,000 miles, but the service manager
said he had seen lots of them. Also he told me, and I quote, "Dodge makes a heavy duty truck but
their brakes are not very heavy duty". The technician that did the brakes told me that the front rotors
were just slightly warped, he only took of about two thousands. But he said the rear drums were out
of round and were probably giving me most of my problems also he said the pads and shoes were
fine.

Second, rotate the tires, I had not done this yet and had over 9K on truck. The service
manager told me that Goodyear had recommended tire rotation every 3,000 miles!! Due to scalloping
problems on full size trucks. Of course he said the AT's like I had were the worst.

Third, do a front-end alignment. He actually did not do the alignment, he said the alignment
was right on. ( I wonder if this had anything to do with it being 3:45 and closing time was at 4pm and
they don't have an alignment machine.)

Driver side mirror has had a black spot in the center of it for a while now and since I also noticed the
in and out feature of the power mirror was not working I thought this would be a good time to fix it.
Power mirror seems intermittent, I can move it slightly by hand and it will start working. Had to
replace entire mirror. Since both the glass and the mechanism were bad. OK

Noticed that the transfer case was leaking from the seal for the rear driveshaft. The service
manager said that they all leak from this seal. He also said that I should have them change it just
before the warranty was up. Mechanic noted that only 'normal' leakage was present. Also I have
been noticing noise from the front end, since the brake job and tire rotation. Took service manager
for a ride and he wanted to rotate tires back to see if it fixed the noise. I figured if it was tire noise, it
would soon quit as tires 'wear in'.

The 4x4 light started staying on for a long time after shifting back to 2 wheel drive, it would also blink
on and off at random times. Replaced the transfer case vacuum switch. This helped but did not
solve the problem.

This time they tried replacing the front differential disconnect switch. The 4x4 light seems to have
stopped flickering anyway possibly due to warmer weather. So far so good. Also the front drivers
seat had developed some looseness and would noticeably rock when going over bumps. Dealer
replaced the adjuster assembly (seat base).

The blinking 4x4 light is now only happening when temp is under 10 F. I told the technician that it
was doing it when cold. So this time they checked all the wiring for shorts and continuity, and also
said they adjusted the switch on differential slightly. And they said the fluid level in the front
differential was too high and took out a pint! Perhaps the thick fluid when it was cold was causing
something? The level was where ever the factory set it, so we'll see......but it didn't do it last winter.

Oil change with Mobil 1 10W-30, checked all fluids etc., nothing to note.

Took truck to body shop to have some scratches buffed out. This turned out great!

Brakes were starting to mess up again, same as last time. The truck would shake when brakes
were applied at medium pressure. So this time the dealer replaced hub/rotors, scuffed pads, and
lubed sliders in the front. They also replaced drums, scuffed linings and adjusted rear brakes. They
now seem to be great again. Maybe they will last more than 3,000 miles this time! Also I showed
service manager where the drivers seat has developed a small tear in it near the spot where seat
back supports come up, he is ordering a new cover or seat, not too sure which one.
